Deadly attacks: French police besiege ‘al Qaeda’ gunman
Prosecutors said the suspect, Mohamed Merah, who is French of Algerian descent, had fought off several police assaults on his flat and bragged to negotiators of having been trained by the militant outfit on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
“He expressed no regret apart from not having had enough time to kill more victims, and even boasted of having brought France to its knees,” France’s top anti-terror prosecutor Francois Molins told reporters. Molins said Merah had claimed responsibility for three cold-blooded shootings over the previous 10 days, in which three French paratroopers, three Jewish children and a teacher were killed.
Merah added that he was not seeking to be a martyr and would give himself up later. He claimed to be avenging Palestinian deaths, opposing the French military’s involvement in Afghanistan and France’s ban on full-faced veils.

There is no promise of hoors or little boys in the hereafter for martyrs in the Qur'an, which is the Criterion (Al Furqan) for Muslims.

Jews were killed even in the Mumbai terror attack. Daniel Pearl, a Jew, was killed in Pakistan. So, there are prior such incidences.
If you don't like being considered Jihad Central -- fix it. There maybe a time when the rest of the World says enough -- perhaps they will just place barriers on anyone who has visited Pakistan from entering their country -- that might make the World a safer place.

Where is this request for the entitlement of more respect originating?

Muslims are not happy in their own Islamic countries, ummah, kingdoms or feifdoms; they are happy in non-Muslim and democratic countries such as UK, France, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, USA, Canada and India.
They do not blame their own leaders, Sheikhs, dictators or Imams for their unhappiness and miseries. They blame for their unhappiness to non-Islamic countries especially USA, UK, India and now France and Denmark where Muslims are happy. They even want to change those non-Islamic democratic countries to make them like Islamic countries. Muslims are not happy in their Islamic countries and now they do not want others to be happy in non-Muslim countries. What an irony!
Look everyone, we may blame the US and all the foreign agencies we have been blaming for so long for all our major problems including the creation of Al-Qaeda and these mujahideen groups, but we need to grow up. Terrorism IS our problem now. Extremism IS our problem now. Intolerance IS our problem now. Corruption IS our problem now. As this story highlights, a number of murderers in foreign countries somehow got their training in Pakistan, and this is not good for our country. We don't want to be isolated from the world. We CAN NOT go to war with ANY country, because it is literally a stupid thing to do in modern times. What we can do is eliminate these militant networks from Pakistan. Just because the US is doing a lot of wrong to us, it doesn't mean that these Taliban and Al-Qaeda like groups are doing right. Stop supporting them, and I say this because people still support them and say they are the "real Muslims" and that "the US is wrong". I say both are wrong. The US needs to start treating everyone with respect and these militant networks need to be eliminated. Let's start working on the latter atleast before things really get out of control!

The police wants to capture the suspect alive, so that he can be questioned and face trial. If he were wise, he should kill himself. Spending the rest of his life behind bars is not very inspiring.
