Counter-Terrorism: SSP-linked madrassa raided by agencies

All suspects arrested were shifted to an unknown facility for further investigation.

JATOI: Intelligence agencies raided a madrassa linked with the Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) and subsequently apprehended three persons late Monday night. According to details, the raid on the Jamia Darul Uloom Islamia madrassah resulted in the recovery of 10 bags of explosives, each with a 50kg capacity. The agencies arrested Abdul Khaliq, Abid and another individual whose identity is yet to be revealed. The attached residence of teacher and administrative official Mumtaz Arunja was also raided. The madrassah’s owner, former SSP vice-president Yahya Abbasi, who the raid was reportedly targeting, is still at large. Intelligence agencies suspect that Abbasi is involved in recent terrorist and sectarian activities in Punjab. All suspects arrested have been shifted to an unknown facility for further investigation.
