TB awareness walk: ‘Patients must get proper treatment’

LAHORE: The Health Department, on Wednesday, organised an awareness walk in connection with the World Tuberculosis (TB) Day in the Walled City. The walk was led by special assistant on health to the chief minister Khawaja Salman Rafique. Health Department officials and members of the civil society participated in the walk which started from Shah Alam Chowk and ended at Lohari Gate. Rafique said treatment for TB was a long and expensive process. He said the treatment could last for eight to nine months and cost thousands of rupees. He said the Punjab government was providing facilities for the treatment of TB patients at public sector hospitals. Rafique said TB patients should get proper treatment as the disease was communicable, adding that proper treatment could completely cure it.
