Haqqani submits reply to Memo commission

Former ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani submitted his reply to the judicial commission probing the Memogate scandal on Wednesday.

In the reply, Haqqani denied all accusations presented by Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz in the documents and proof submitted during his cross-questioning. However, Haqqani admitted to having a telephonic conversation with Ijaz in May but said that the memo was not discussed.

Haqqani was given a deadline to submit his reply on Wednesday by 10pm and in case of no submission, the commission said that it would assume that Haqqani is verifying Ijaz’s claims.

The former ambassador has been ordered to appear personally before the commission in Islamabad on March 26.

Rameez | 12 years ago | Reply The point is well taken by Hussain Haqqani that if Mansoor Ijaz seeks forensic probe, he must bear the cost and the burden should not be on the national exchequers. Mansoor Ijaz who aimed to topple the Government by making a non issue to a high profile issue linking it with national integrity. This is not simple as we take it. Since last three years PML-N used number of tactics to dislodge Government. Sometimes, minus one formula was popped up, time and again it was tried to pitch Judiciary against Government. Even Mian Sahib tried to create a face off between military and civilian government. On failing, another conspiracy in the name of Memo was created through a notorious personality of Mansoor Ijaz. Who not only several time criticized top spy agency of Pakistan but also leveled serious allegations against Pakistan military. Unfortunately, Mian Sahib once again failed to achieve the required political mileage from this case. Very sad indeed.
