RAWALPINDI:

The district government directed Wapda, PTCL, SNGPL and Wasa on Tuesday to shift their utility lines and poles to make way for the construction of roads under the recently built Chandni Chowk Flyover on Benazir Bhutto Road.

Rawalpindi District Coordination Officer DCO Saqib Zaffar asked the departments to complete the shifting of utilities within one month to assist in the early completion of the flyover project.

Roads under the flyover remain incomplete and traffic on these roads moves at a snail’s pace, creating a mess on the busy BB Road.

In a meeting chaired by the DCO and attended by Punjab Highways Sub-divisional Engineer Farhat Munir, Project Director Rana Muhammad Basharat and representatives of Wapda, PTCL, Sui gas and Wasa.

Zaffar directed the Punjab Highway Department and PTCL officials to complete surveying within three days so that phone lines could be protected and citizens are not inconvenienced.

He also directed Sui Gas officials to shift the one remaining distribution station on the site immediately, while Wasa officials were directed to complete construction work on drains.
