KRL through to football event semis

KESC beat under-19 team in National Challenge Cup.

KARACHI:

KRL crushed hosts KPT 3-0 in the National Challenge Cup quarter-final, while KESC got the better of National Youth ‘A’ (under-19) team 3-1 in the other last-eight encounter.

Rizwan Asif scored a hat-trick to help KRL knockout KPT and book a semi-final showdown with Navy, while Mohammad Rasool also hit three goals as KESC set up a clash with Wapda. Both semi-finals will take place tomorrow.

Asif scored the opener in the eighth minute and doubled KRL’s lead two minutes before half-time. He then sealed the win with a 55th-minute goal as KPT failed to score.

Meanwhile, KESC and National Youth ‘A’ (U19) played a goal-less first-half. However, Rasool found the net in the 47th minute before Saddam Hussain equalised. Rasool added a second goal in the 73rd minute  before completing his hat-trick on 79 minutes.
