Two people were killed and one was injured in a blast at a shop on Michini Road in Charsadda district.
The explosion took place when a discarded rocket shell exploded at a shop dealing in scrap metals, District Police Officer Nasir Marwat told reporters at the site.
“The rocket blasted when the shop owner attempted to defuse it,” a bomb disposal squad official told The Express Tribune.
Tariq, an eyewitness, said he rushed to the site after he heard the explosion and saw the area enveloped in dust and smoke and three people lying injured. Alamgir died on the spot, while two brothers, Arif and Sabihullaha, were taken to a hospital where Arif succumbed to his injuries.
Separately, two schools were damaged in bomb blasts in Charsadda and Lakki Marwat districts. The Education Department in Lakki Marwat had recently directed watchmen to guard educational institutions at night.
