Honouring an icon: Qavi Khan to be awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz

Qavi Khan has been among the pioneers of theatre in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the conferment of the Sitara-e-Imtiaz upon renowned actor Muhammad Qavi Khan, in recognition for his services in the field of performing arts. Starting his career in 1952 from Radio Pakistan and earning a Lifetime Achievement Award, Qavi was the first hero of drama when Pakistan Television (PTV) began its transmission in 1964. He has also been conferred the Best Actor and Life Achievement Award by PTV. Besides Radio and television, Qavi Khan has been among the pioneers of theatre in Pakistan, making significant contributions to the development of the theatre industry.
