LAHORE: The group heading the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore, on Sunday, finalised the candidates for elections of the PMA Punjab chapter to be held on April 8.

In its executive committee meeting, chaired by Dr Tanveer Anwar, it was decided that Dr Abrar Ashraf Ali from Services Hospital will run for the post of the general secretary, Dr Farhat Naz from Jinnah Hospital will run for vice president, Dr Hammad Naeem Rana from Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital will run for finance secretary and Mayo Hospital’s Dr Muhammad Saeed will run for the seat of joint secretary.

The executive committee meeting unanimously elected the 415 delegates for the electoral college of the Punjab PMA. The meeting also adopted a resolution saying the Punjab government had appointed heads of several medical institutions in violation of seniority and merit and this was the reason for the decline of medical institutions. It said the chaos in medical institutions could be brought under control by appointing people on merit.

The participants demanded that the chief minister reconsider all such appointments.
