PALM HARBOUR: South African Retief Goosen defied a painful back ailment to fire a six-under 65 for a share of the third-round lead with Jim Furyk at the US PGA Tour Transitions Championship. Goosen’s seven birdies included three in a row from the 14th as he posted an 11-under total of 202. He was joined by Furyk, who gave up sole possession of first place with a bogey at 18 to cap his 66. Meanwhile, a trio of players on 205 included Ernie Els and Luke Donald. Els, seeking a victory to boost his chances of getting into the Masters, carded a 68, while Donald, who could regain the world number one ranking with a win, posted a 70.
