Non-compliance: Arrest warrants for PESCO officials issued

HARIPUR:

A civil judge has issued arrest warrants for a sub-divisional officer of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) and his two subordinates for not implementing court orders.

Earlier, Malik Tariq, a local resident of Abbottabad, had filed a civil suit after he was served with a bill of Rs174,000 for February.

According to Tariq, the bill was based on a wrong meter reading. He also claimed that the Pesco officials had refused to issue a revised bill to him.

The court directed Pesco to issue a revised bill to Tariq in addition to replacing his electricity meter.

However, Tariq alleged that the officials removed the new meter two days after installation and issued him another inflated bill.

He then filed another application, informing the court about the delay in implementation of its orders.

Acting on the application, the judge issued arrest warrants for Sub-Divisional Officer Asad Khan, Line Superintendent Shaukat Khan and Meter Reader Dildar and ordered the police to produce them before the court on Monday.
