ISLAMABAD:

Around 100 contract-based employees of four national health programmes have been regularised. The decision was taken by the National Assembly Special Committee under the chairmanship of the Federal Minister Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah recently.

Of these, 25 employees are from The Expanded Programme on Immunisation, 26 from the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Hepatitis, 36 from The National AIDS Programme and the rest from the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Blindness. These employees will work under the Ministry of Interprovincial Coordination.

Majority of them had not been getting their salaries after the devolution of the Ministry of Health under the 18th amendment.

The National AIDS Programme Coordinator Naeem Akhtar said majority of the employees were disappointed. However, this recent decision has raised the morale of many.
