“If you are in the coal business, your hands get black. If I were scared, I wouldn’t join politics. I am not afraid of anybody,” said the prime minister.
He said that the media had never been freer than under his government. “I will give more freedom to the media. There are two reasons for it. First, when they (journalists) criticise us our sins are washed off. Second, the criticism takes us on to further heights,” he added.
Gilani said that his was the only democratically elected government to have completed four years.
“We completed four years in government while crossing the river of fire. Tomorrow (on Saturday), a constitutional requirement will be fulfilled which has never been fulfilled before. For the first time in history, President Asif Ali Zardari will address the joint session of parliament for the fifth time. He will give the policy statement in his address, but I would like to reveal in the upcoming budget we will give relief to people,” he said.
“I have passed directions to Ministry of Finance to create 100,000 jobs so that educated youth could get employment. The Ministry for Information Technology (IT) is under the prime minister and I am also giving several IT programs for the people,” the prime minister said.
Earlier in his address to the students, Gilani said that next year will be centennial year for Kinnaird College which is a very important year for Pakistan as well.
“The Army chief will complete his tenure in 2013. The chief justice, president, parliament of which I am a part, will complete its tenure in 2013. So the next year is very important for Kinnaird College and for Pakistan as well,” he maintained.
Gilani said that Pakistan Peoples Party had given autonomy under the regime of Benazir Bhutto, adding that the party believes in emancipation and creating equal opportunities for women.
“First woman foreign minister is appointed by our government and so is the speaker of the National Assembly. We have given women the key slots,” he maintained.

yes he is right! These days politics is the game of thugs.
Obviously you aren't scared. Why would you be? You're not just politically strong. Your family's stature speaks for itself. You were born and bread in a way which taught you to defy the ordinary. Ordinary can mean many things in this scenario. It can mean us! The people. The law. Judiciary? And as far as media is concerned. Dear PM! This ship has sailed. It left the shore a few years back. And Sir! You were one of the millions who helped pull the anchor up. So, salute. But remember its not under your control. So, don't count it as an "achievement". Women empowerment? Key slots? Sir, empowering women isn't and was never your mindset. It was the mind set of yours and ours slain ex PM. Benazir Bhutto. What a leader! May "God" punish her killers in the cruelest of ways. Coming back to your mindset. I hear about the Gillanis of Multan. Your sons, others etc and the recent victory. why is it that I never hear of a female who's a Gillani and from your family? Women empowerment? Answered. Oh, and Sir! You of all the people shouldn't talk about the Army chief completing his term. Just saying :)
What example this man is setting by disobeying SC order..? if he does not obey court's order why a commoner should obey any law..?
Perveez Musharraf once used to say this sentence...but all know where he is now.. wo be drta wrta kisi se nai tha...
Sometimes I feel sorry for our Prime Minister.
Next hearing too will adjourned till 'aik aur tareekh'. Our judicial system is nothing more than a joke.
I appreciate the brave stand of PM. He is making history in terms of political commitment.
It was really embarassing to see our PM speak like that not once but twice ridiculing the judiciary and laws ,what if anyone else has broken the laws ,would they also plead the same ,why is he behaving like this as he said yesterday that without PPP he may not be even hired as a Peon ,what a shame why the PM has to say this to show how low a position of a Peon is ,Allah knows best and everyone will meet the result of their Deeds sooner or later ,May Allah also give our PM the strength to look beyond PPP and also understand that he has Sworn as PM . PM is trying his best to get a Sentence so they can gather Public Sympathy for elections but i wish he can read the Quran and see how many times Allah has reminded that Allah AlMighty is the Biggest Planner of All .
May Allah Guide us All ,Ameen Allah Huma Ameen .
I am sure you are not scared of here and after, if you were you would have upheld the law and not provided protection to corrupt people or to corruption.
As far as I know, no one is questioning your bravery.
Everyone however, is questioning your morality, your honesty, your devotion to Pakistan.
Go ahead Prime Minister! We are with you against the corrupt Supreme Court judges!
In school we played a game to think up the most absurd but relevant description of things called the ' height of ...... '. The above is a winner as 'the height of shamelessness'.
If i were in place of if i was in the heading
"If you are in the coal business, your hands get black" - Gilani ... so you admit your hands are black huh Mr. PM? This PPP era is no doubt the blackest in the country's history, thanks to people like you.
He will be fit in coal-mine job...at least he will do some work for "Bar B Que restaurants"...! Otherwise, He is total failure in his current job...!
I sincerely hope and PRAY that the CJ takes a decision on the next date because this Gillani has decided all out war with the Supreme courts.
Pakistan deserve such fate under a prime minister of such weird and 3rd calss approach...
