ISLAMABAD:

Established last year, the SOS Village Pakistan is now home to 86 homeless children.

In the wake of the devastating 2005 earthquake, over 200 children from the affected areas were shifted to the shelter home, which is providing them shelter, security and helping them develop skills for life.

The shelter home also caters for facilities such as school, hospital and a play area.

The shelter home recently received assistance from Proctor & Gamble Pakistan  on the completion of their 20 years in Pakistan. The home will house 11 children.

SOS Village Director Shama Khan said that so far a total of 15 homes have been made for these children.

Each houses a mother and 11 children, who live like a family. The girls stay at the village till they get married and boys at the age of 23 are shifted to a youth home, where they gain vocational training.
