Hunarmand programme: 17 projects worth Rs342m to help with vocational training

Over 130,000 jobless youth have thus far been given technical and vocation training through NAVTTC.

The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) on Thursday approved 17 projects worth Rs342 million for technical and vocational training to jobless youth.


These projects include the establishment of a NAVTTC Regional Office in Gilgit-Baltistan, which will provide technical and vocational training to people of the area. A new training centre in Gujrat district will also be set up.

Other key projects approved include paramedic training courses at the National Institute of Medical and Social Sciences, DHA, Islamabad; farm management and livestock assistance training courses at the National Logistic Cell Institute, Jehlum; training on livestock breeding and services at a Muzzaffargarh veterinary dispensary.

NAVTTC Chairperson Mumtaz Akhtar Kahloon said that all these projects are based on the demands of the people.

“The organisation has so far revised the curriculum of 41 different vocational trades in the past seven months,” he said. A national database for the Technical and Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) institutions has also been developed, he added.

According to Kahloon, over 130,000 jobless youth have thus far been given technical and vocation training through NAVTTC under the Prime Minister’s Hunarmand programme and the President’s Funni Maharat Programme.
