Resisiting robbers: Prayer leader dies from bullet injuries

Imam was stopped by two men on a motorcycle while he was on his way back from the mosque.

FAISALABAD: A masjid imam, shot and injured by robbers for showing resistance in Mamonkanjan area on Tuesday, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital Wednesday. Police said Qari Muhammad Usman, imam and prayer leader of Jam-i-Masjid Bilal in Mohallah Awanw ala, was stopped by two men on a motorcycle while he was on his way back from the mosque. They told him to handover his cash, but he resisted and tried to run. One of the men then shot him and fled. Some passers-by took him to Allied Hospital and kept in the intensive care unit, where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.
