President Zardari approves confirmation of 2 additional judges for PHC

President also approves appointment of two additional judges for the Sindh High Court.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday on the advice of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani approved the confirmation of two additional judges of the Peshawar High Court and also approved the appointment of two additional judges for the Sindh High Court, officials told The Express Tribune.

The judges who have been confirmed for the PHC are Justice Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah and Justice Yahya Afridi, while the additional judges who have been appointed for SHC are Nadeem Akhter and Mohammad Shafi Siddique.

The nominations were forwarded to the parliamentary committee on judges’ appointment by the judicial commission, which unanimously agreed with the recommendations and approved Justice Shah’s extension as additional judge till the age of superannuation, while approving Justice Afridi as an additional judge.

It also unanimously approved the nomination of Akhter and Siddique as additional judges for SHC.

The recommendations were then forwarded to the Prime Minister on whose advice the President approved these judicial appointments.
