Akbar Bugti wasn't murdered, he committed suicide: Musharraf
Baloch leader Harbiyar Marri however denied Musharraf’s claims and said that he wants to “escape” after perpetrating decade-long “atrocities” against Baloch locals.
Amid ambiguities tied with his homecoming and the issuance of Red Warrants from Interpol for his arrest in the Benazir Bhutto assassination case, Musharraf said that he is “not an ordinary person” and that he was not afraid of red warrants.
He also said that he would return to Pakistan before the coming general elections and added that the date of his arrival would only be decided after consulting with his party.
While speaking about Balochistan, Musharraf said that unrest in the province was not a mysterious issue and that there were a few people behind it who needed to be dealt with an iron hand. He also alleged that India was involved in disrupting peace in the province and the country.
Musharraf said that the country had been on the "verge of disaster" and he had "introduced real democracy."

@Faddy: Balochi blew those pipe lines not for illegal demands, were just trying to tell Punjab that hundreds miles away Punjab's every village gets gas from Balochistan but remote areas of Balochistan, still to get the gas. Punjab always term, those traitor, who want their resources back from the clutches of Punjab. Today Punjab claims resources on majority population but in yester years they refused to accept the same claim by Bangalis and just to counter their claim of being majority population, Punjabi establishment created one unit. Balochi are not traitors, they just want their control on resource. Now its time for Punjab to learn from past mistakes.

As for Civil and Military Leadership policies and tendencies towards Balochistan, suffice it to say they need to decide whether they want to rule the land or rule the people.
Almost all the discussion I have come across regarding Balochistan, they tend to be diverted towards personality discussion, justification and blame exchanges, rather than concern for the common Balochistanis. This extremely unforunate and disappointing to see such views coming out of cosy homes / offices.
Why wait for general election to prove your " bravery ". Waiting for "Part" decision (like Altaf Bhai seeking his own slave-like workers'"'permission''). Don't know which party does he refer to. Come home and prove your courage.

How can people be so biased? Musharraf's only mistake was that when he came into power he was in uniform. Otherwise, he was/is FAR better than the present "so called" democracy.
I totally agree with Mush's statement. An army Colonel and two Majors were sent into the cave to negotiate Bugti's surrender, he 'the egoistic' blew himself up, killing the army personnel as well. Why can't people see the truth?

Balochistan was/is ruled by the Baloch leaders only for the last 60+ years. They cannot make a school inspite they get huge royalties for the gas. They cant make a school. This shows how sincere the Baloch leaders were. They build an army for themself to make their tribal people give punishments etc. but they can never make a hospital in 60 years and now they are talking of their tribemen. What Gen. Musharraf did in his tenure (excl NRO) was in the interest of Pakistan. Although he is not directly responsible for the incident of Bughti but the rift started when bughti was refused to give cash as royalty to purchase arms to fire on security forces and to blackmail he carried out hundreds of explosions on gas pipe lines, transformers and railway tracks. Is that not enough to open the eyes of general public that his grandson was red handed caught getting heavy duty arms into pakistan. Briefly, there is a series of achievements that Musharraf has credibility like RID OF FROM IMF. Mega projects in Balochistan, a real democracy by power to grass root level, media freedom, neat and clean elections, and many others. The only mistake of him is NRO. Further Musharraf should not come to Pakistan to avoid another judicial murder.

General Musharaf is no angel and surely he never claimed that.His political partners always wanted him to commit blunders which he did.Having said that overall his performance as a dictator/president was far superior than any democrat/dictator since inception of Pakistan . We all want democracy the real one and would very much like all the political parties to have election within their ranks.Currently they operate like Dynasty,where baton is handed over to the sons/daughters. The General is hated because he is domiciled in Sindh Province.He was well respected while In office and is still regarded highly outside Pakistan .Every body knows he will be humiliated to the limit once his plane lands and he knows that and must be feeling that he will not get justice.Documents/evidence in his favour will not be made available by the relevant agencies.
General Musharraf and other Generals who think they 'own' Pakistan are wrong. Very true! But so are the Sardars who think they 'own' Pakistanis. We, as Pakistanis, need to tell the Pak Army to stay in the barracks and on the borders where they belong. We also need to get rid of this medieval, unIslamic and stupid feudal system. Sardars, Nawabs, Chaudharys and Wadheras are murderers, rapists and looters. Power the common man on the street and enforce justice. Jobs and awards provided on the basis of merit and I am so sure, we will excel in everything.

The problem is that a section of media and our society is so biased against Musharraf that they will keep cranking out as much propaganda against him as possible no matter what. People will keep crying foul about Musharraf without looking at his contribution to the country. I have never seen as intensive character assassination of any person in our media as his. I never say that he was a perfect man or ruler. But it is high time that we need to look at his legacy in a balanced way.

So let me get this straight. Bugti takes up arms against the government and holes up in a cave with massive armaments while his followers engage in running battles with the army. In other words, he deliberately puts himself in harms way. If he didn't want to get killed, he shouldn't have taken up arms and instead relied on political means to achieve his goals.
This is true and even admitted by some of the Baloch tribals who were there but later silenced. Bugti fired an RPG inside the cave not knowing that the back blast of the RPG will kill you in enclosed space.
Question is why did he have heavy arms and RPGs?
What a lie! But then that can be expected from Musharraf. So cheap! Anyways it's high time India openly gave moral support to the Baloch people!
Whether Bugti was assassinated/killed/committed suicide is immaterial. The man is gone and the Baloch people are better off without him. If the same can be repeated for the rest of the "sardars", then all the problems facing Baloch people would be resolved. It is the sardari system that is holding Balochistan back.
The truth is out. Nawab Akbar Bugti committed suicide. Pakistan Army just helped in pulling the trigger.

Whether or not Bugti caused his death or not, history has now been written. And Pakistan army will have to go that extra mile to wash itself off this taint.

Bugti fired that rocket himself. Whether u support Musharraf or not let us at least be broadminded enough to allow that there is more to this than what the Bugtis claimed. Ask yourself what Musharraf had to gain from killing Bugti and what Bugti had to gain from making his death look as if carried out by the Army. Make a list of pros and cons and then decide. Maybe this esteemed newspaper can do this.
Actually on this one Mush is right. Bugti, when cornered wanted to negotiate his surrender and once the army officers entered his cave, he blew the whole thing up.

He told the same story about the death of Akbar Bugti. Some of us are so biased against Musharraf that they can't (or don't) think objectively about the circumstances surrounding the death of Bugti and don't bother to employ commonsense to understand the situation. I would ask for the constitution of a high-powered judicial commission which would solve the mystery of Akbar Bugti's death once and for all.
Before Mush had Akbar Bugti killed, he made this boast. I would hit him so hard that he would not know what hit him! And sure he did. Both BB and Bugti took their own lives. While at it, ZAB was also not hanged he went crazy and killed himself before the general could hang him. No general has committed any crime against the people of Pakistan. The 60 judges and their familes threw themselves in detention not Gen Mush. While making things up, Mush still thinks that he has a political party in Pakistan! No wonder he claims to be an extra ordinary man, a leader without party, a democrat in uniform.

Gen. Musharraf says Bugti committed suicide. For a Baluch to be there in Baluchistan, in the trajectory of falling bombs and raiding army, is plain suicide. Pakistan army owns Baluchistan and they can drop Pakistani bombs anywhere they like. Death as a result of an army operation is actually god's wrath for foolhardiness of the victim. The conquered Baluch people have no right to deny 'torture-murder entertainment' to Pakistani military. Unwanted attention to military's indulgence could hamper US-Pakistan relations.

Musharraf was just one charlatan, in a long list, that have ruled Pakistan. His darkest hour was when he refused to acknowledge and collect the dead bodies of Pak army men for burial from Indian army, claiming Pakistan army had not intruded into kargil.

Akbar Bugti died alongwith four Army officers inside the cave. Were the Army officers wearing suicide jackets to blow themselves up? One may ask what was he doing there in that cave in Marri tribes area otherwise off limits to Bugtis? A proper judicial inquiry can find the facts of that incident which has helped the seperatists to get attention at the international level.

Our all differences with Musharaf on one side but this is realy true and 100% correct. Weather poeple agree with this or not. But this is truth. Army sent three high ranking officials inside the cave to negotiate with Bughti but they were killed. When Army raided inside. He and his comrades hastly fired rockets which ultimately caused his death.
