Targeted: Three policemen killed, one injured

Three policemen were shot dead and one was injured in three separate incidents, which took place within an hour, on Tuesday night.


ASI Raja Moin, 47, was shot dead in the limits of Sacchal police station. According to SHO Azhar Ali, the victim was targeted while he was standing outside his home in Ali Town. Moin was posted at the Shah Latif police station and lived in Gulshan-e-Sikandarabad near Super Highway. He left behind five children.

Sources said that Moin was a part of the Karachi operation and had also been associated with the Lyari Task Force. But SHO Ali said that he had no information about Moin being a part of the Karachi Operation.

In a separate incident 57-year-old Mohammad Ayub was shot and killed near Peoples Chowrangi in Nazimabad. He was posted at Taimuria police station and was on his way home when he was killed.

A head constable, Ghulam Abbas, was killed and another constable, Fazlur Rehman, was injured in Block-16 of FB Area in the limits of Yousuf Plaza police station. DSP Saleem Akhtar said that both the policemen were deployed at the parking zone of the Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases and unidentified men opened fire when they tried to stop a vehicle from being stolen.
