Murder: Woman killed ‘for questioning husband’

BAHAWALPUR:

Derawar police have registered a case against a man for killing his wife on Sunday.

Rab Nawaz, father of deceased Safia Bibi, stated in the FIR that his daughter was killed by blows of an axe by her husband Riaz, a resident of Chak 117BNB. He said the couple had been quarrelling over Riaz’s unemployment and drinking habit. He said Safia had occasionally complained about it during her visits to his house. He said he had always advised her to make adjustments to protect her marriage.

Doctors at DHQ hospital said there were over a dozen wounds on her body.

Neighbour Arsalan said Safia’s two children had told him about the incident. He said he had rushed to the scene and found the woman lying unconscious on the floor, blood gushing out of her wounds.
