PTI to target youth for next elections: Imran
In a mass-contact campaign aimed at capitalising on its appeal in the country’s youth, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided on Sunday to initiate a nationwide drive.
“PTI will now try to target the youth specifically, aiding them in their procurement of the party’s membership,” announced PTI chairman Imran Khan at a press conference after attending the party’s board meeting in Islamabad.
“These incoming members will have the power to elect the party’s ticket-holders for the next general elections,” asserted Imran.
“Elections will be organised to ensure complete transparency in choosing party leaders,” Imran added.
The PTI chief also said that the party’s manifesto for the upcoming polls will be announced soon. However, he did not shed light on any of the specific clauses of the programme.
‘A transformation’
Harking back to the Lahore rally of October 30, Imran said that the PTI had become a different party after that.
“PTI went through a transformative phase as it became totally different afterwards,” he said.
Responding to a question, Khan alleged that the prime minister was involved in covering up the corruption of the president.
“The premier is equally culpable of aiding corruption which has literally sent the country’s economy into doldrums,” he remarked.
Answering another query, he vehemently rejected the rumours that PTI’s Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi was contemplating quitting the party.
“There are no differences among the party’s top leadership,” assured Imran, dispelling speculations that some of the party leaders were thinking to realign with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Regarding the next general elections, Imran added that both the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the PML-N were on the ‘same wavelength.’
He also dismissed allegations of PTI having the establishment’s backing.
“Those who are part and parcel of the establishment’s workings have been named in the Mehrangate scandal,” pointed out Imran.

I think, we are a lucky nation. We keep getting leaders who are larger than life. We haven't respected them in past, but we should avail this opportunity and do everything we can to bring Imran in power. He will atleast shake our corrupt system and will certainly lead us in the right path.....I can go on and on but my fellow country men....PLEASE PLEASE choose Imran Khan if you want to see hope for us and our coming generation.....

Nothing will change in Pak..If Jamshed Dasti wins, PPP doesn't take action against Waheeda Shah, PM son wins etc. etc. then it means that these people want to maintain the status quo and voters are helping them. Majority of the voters (i.e. public) are corrupt and they need a patwari, a Councillor, MPA, MLA, Senator who can get their work done in thana, katcheri etc.....

You really need to stop lying. The mehrangate scandal relates to the 1900's, not now. You can't use that as proof of the establishment not backing you now, which it totally is.

Don't think the Makhdooms of Multan are representative of the youth 'Das Kapitan'. How many female candidates does PTI have? How many young candidates under the age of 35-40 does PTI have? Z E R O.
You can claim to represent the youth as much as you want, but all we see is when you take the stage you're surrounded by either makhdooms or feudals. How is that different from the other political parties?
Imran where is your Land Reforms Bill? You wont get elected only on urban votes. You need rural votes. Promise them land. Introduce Land Reforms Rural Land Ceiling Act. Restrict land to a max of 50 acres including 12-14 acres irrigated. And distribute the excess land among the landless poor.
You will sweep the polls and can have an absolute majority. I am watching you and you are not making the right noises. I am giving you free advice does not mean you take it for granted and not act.
Put this in your manifesto and talk about it in every discussion - that is if you care for the people of Pakistan not yourself only.

I hope that IK's support isn't restricted to internet and FB only. Please make sure that you are a registered voter by sending an SMS to ECP and your area is correctly marked. And the most important is to wake up early on the election day and CAST your vote. Remember its your vote that will give Kaptaan the support and not your rhetoric.

Mr Imran Khan and PTI became arrogant.He started acting like PM in waiting. PTI needs to have a solid progressive manifesto which should address the issues of poverty,education,health care,women issues and most important corruption and quick and cheap access to justice
Excellent initiative - the youth across this country MUST get involved in this process - submit your candidacy - get the vote out - campaign - let the status quo know this internal party election is the harbinger of change (by participating in large numbers, also send the most significant signal to the status quo yet, that change is infact on its way). The educated middle class/urban youth will have a very significant role to play in the near-term future of this country (especially, if things are to get any better). If more of that youth (or aka dreamers) are inspired to participate by the likes of Imran Khan, it makes me hopeful for Pakistan.

The PTI youth can participate in party elections but they need to wait many years to vote in general elections where age limit is 18, not 8.
Good strategy. Youth in general and women make up significant chunks of the under-tapped electoral demographics in Pakistan.
Tsunami Khan is loosing it now completely. In semi-tribal society of Pakistan, it is tribes, castes, etc that decide most of the election. He is gonna loose even few seats he could have gotten with help of bigwigs. I can feel momentum shifting away from him! .
