LAHORE:
The Punjab Sports Festival is meant to mobilise the youth, Sabiha Shaheen, the executive director of Bargad, a youth based non-government organisation, said on Sunday. She was speaking at the festival, organised jointly by the United Nations Population Fund, Bagrad and the Government of Punjab. She said that the government was all set to announce a youth policy later in March. Shaheen said that the youth policy, which has taken more than 40 consultations to develop, will address the concerns of the youth and ensure the provision of educational and career opportunities for them. It will also help promote the social, economic and political empowerment of the youth.“The youth are facing great challenges including economic, educational and health. Punjab will be the first province to have worked towards developing such a policy,” she said.
