Football: Carlos denies retirement rumours

MOSCOW: Former Brazil left-back Roberto Carlos denied that his playing career was over after being left out of Anzhi Makhachkala’s squad. Carlos had said earlier that he planned to retire at the end of 2012. While confirming a statement from Anzhi Vice-President German Chistyakov that he was no longer registered for the remainder of the 2011-12 Russian Premier League season, Carlos maintained that he hoped to play in the next edition. “I’m only out of the squad until the end of the season,” tweeted Carlos. “Next year I will play a few times.”
