Ahead of his visit to Islamabad later this year, India’s External Affairs Minister S M Krishna on Friday said that although terrorism posed a continuing threat to the region, India and Pakistan had made major strides in trying to eliminate the lack of trust in the last two years.
“Over the past two years, we have made major strides in reducing the trust deficit between India and Pakistan,” Krishna claimed at the Institute of South Asian Studies. “We affirm the importance of carrying forward a dialogue process with a view to resolving peacefully all outstanding issues through constructive and result-oriented engagement,” he commented.
On talks with Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar in New Delhi last year, he said that “we agreed that terrorism poses a continuing threat to peace and security, and reiterated the firm commitment of our two countries to fight and eliminate this scourge in all its forms and manifestations,” he added.
Krishna is likely to travel to Islamabad in June-July for talks with Khar.

Mr. Krishna no doubt has good intentions as always. But he cannot control RAW from terrorist acts in Pakistan.
The elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about is that these discussions are between the two civilian govt's and one of those govts doesn't have any real control over foreign policy.
antanu g, u r a pakistani stop pretending as indian, if you reside in india, go to pakitstan, that is your home. period
@Pakistani Agnostic: Tribune is a Pakistani newspaper. It is not here to make you feel good. It is suppose to show what's going on in Pakistani society and Indian media is doing the same.
Last time when they initiated peace process, Pakistan sent their born and bred non-state actors to Mumbai.
I want to know why tribune publishes news about Pakistanis being paraded naked in our rural areas but ignores the same incident in India where they paraded a Indian woman and daughter on holi
@Babloo
If a gullible fool can bring peace to the region....he is much much better than an ENLIGHTENED individual like you. If people like you propogate the policy of HATRED we must welcome a gullible fool with open arms. At least he is not an extrmist.
@ashok sai: its people like you on both sides of the border who do not want friendly relations between the two countries. People like you should be shut up since you are more than a match to the extremism propogated by terrorists. Its a matter of shame for we Indians. We claim to be more tolerant than pakistanis but the truth is very different.
S M Krishna, comes accross as a gullible fool.
I hope all goes well. It is time to move forward with good intentions. People to people contacts and trade will make major difference. Hardliners are on both sides of the border but it is for the relevant governments to keep proper check on them. This regions needs stability.
Mr.Krishna, Pakistan is affected by Stockholm Syndrome, they are actually loving their home grown terrorists, better for India to follow, 'neither enemy nor friend' policy.
