ISLAMABAD:

After failing to satisfy the higher ups, the administration of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) has formed a new committee to probe an attempted theft of infected blood from the hospital.

The new committee comprises Pims Joint Executive Administration Director Dr Altaf Hussain, joint executive directors Dr Iqbal Raza and Dr Amjad Mehmood, Head of Neurosurgery Dept Prof Khaleequz Zaman and MS Dr Jamal Zafar.

The committee is expected to submit its report on Monday. On February 25, a scavenger almost succeeded in stealing hepatitis and HIV-infected blood lying outside a medical ward, waiting to be picked up for disposal.
