IANS reported on Friday that Krishna, at the Institute of South Asian Studies, said "we [India and Pakistan] affirmed the importance of carrying forward the dialogue process with a view to resolve all the issues peacefully through constructive and result oriented engagement.”
"We agreed that terrorism poses a continuing threat to peace and security and reiterated our commitment to fight and eliminate it in all its forms and manifestations," he said.
He welcomed "Pakistan's efforts to normalise trade relations with India by moving from positive to negative lists, and their eventual elimination," a key step towards Pakistan granting Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India.
Krishna is likely to travel to Islamabad in June or July for talks that will review the peace process.
Stressing on New Delhi's improving relations with neighbouring countries, Krishna pushed for greater regional integration in South Asia. "In our immediate neighbourhood of South Asia, India has been driven by the vision of encouraging regional integration to bring about peace and prosperity for more than one-and-a-half billion people living in this region."

@Shahid: There are likely to be significant economic benefits in the long-term through greater participation of the private sector, but not through anyone playing big/ small brother - international relationships (especially with such a negative history) do not work this way. Any results on the ground are likely to be slow and measured, to avoid having to backtrack in light of the fluid political scenario in Pakistan.
@Senman: I liked your comment. But seriously if that were to happen again I would not blame the foreign actors! The politicians hopefully would be kicked out of power and the reply would be swift and smart and I am of the opinion that only the Indian armed forces should be told to handle the situation. But as for now lets talk business!
@Blithe: We are not joking and we are serious Kashmir belongs to India full stop! The name Kashmir is a Sanskrit word and so you know the origin of it!
I do not support contacts with Pakistan. It will end in grief and a feeling of being cheated.
India has foreign policy of terror, around terror and about terror. Who attacked Israeli diplomat?? Any news?
@Blithe:
you must be joking. You should be happy the indian arny didnt capture all of Kashmir . And stop twrrorists to the indian kashmir.
@Shahid Your comments are noted. But in today's international scenario, no country plays the role of 'big brother' and 'being generous'.India should be expected to interact with Pakistan as a neighbour - and only the economic interests will drive all discussions (normalization of ties, resolution of old issues etc). Pakistan need to be treated in a similar way as India treats UK, Singapore, Japan, Iran or Kuwait - keeping only the economic interests in mind.Your requests would automatically be discussed if Indian investments are allowed, which, in the present scenario, seems far fetched.
@shahid India itself is suffering from energy shortage. I just hope that Pakistan born and bred "Foreign actors" don't take this chance as India relenting and create another Mumbai scenario.
@Shahid: Let us not talk about "generosity" or "big brother" or "small brother" because such talk inevitably leads to suspicions of exploitation. Let us talk about adult relationships of "equality","reciprocity", "partnership", "ghairat", "khuddi", enlightened mutual respect. Let us talk about walking beside each other ("humsafar"), not ahead or behind the other - "shana-ba- shana" (Shoulder to shoulder). That is what enduring relationships are founded on. Let us add to each others' strengths and compensate for each others' weaknesses. Let us celebrate each other! Currently, India is exploring interconnection of rivers nationwide. If Pakistanis have enough faith in India's fairmindedness, let Pakistan join this colossal adventure which will wipe away thirst from the whole subcontinent and which probably has not been tried anywhere else. Russians have a saying: "Trust but Verify". So, one doesn't have to rely entirely on faith in our times. Let us start with small steps!
@Shahid
You've got to be joking! The only thing we need from India is for them to get serious about a resolution on Kashmir, as per UN Reaolutions.
Happy holi to all my brothers and sisters in pakistan...may God Allah bless our two beautiful country...
we hope india will be generous and play the role of big brother offering assistance both technical and financial in dealing with Pakistan's energy crisis helping pakistan with coal mining, building dams and sharing their expertise in improving agriculture yield.
