SUKKUR: A countrywide strike by railway drivers, which started on Thursday morning, ended later in the day after the federal government accepted their long standing demands. Ali Haider Chachar, who is the former general secretary of train drivers welfare association, said that locomotive drivers organised the strike in order to convince the government to upgrade their pay scales from grade 12 to grade 14. They also asked for an increase of their overtime allowance.
