Spring festival: Five-day event to begin on March 13

Event was part of university’s outreach activities to help the farmers increase crop production.

FAISALABAD: A five-day Spring Festival will begin at University of Agriculture on March 13. The festival will include a farmers’ convention, an agricultural exhibition, a flower show, a fancy birds’ show, a horse and cattle show, tent pegging competition and cow and buffalo beauty competitions. A university spokesman said the festival was organised to promote modern agricultural practices. He said the event was part of university’s outreach activities to help the farmers increase crop production. The tent pegging competitions will take place at Race Course Ground on Jail Road on March 13. Agricultural exhibition, flower show and fancy birds show will be held at D-Ground.  A mehfil-e-milad will be held at Iqbal Auditorium in the evening of the first day of the festival which will conclude on March 17. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan has constituted committees to oversee various competition in the event.
