International Food Festival: Diner’s delight comes to an end

Students, teachers and parents at Westminster School and College organised an international food festival on Saturday at the school campus. The festival proved to be a food lover’s paradise, said a press release issued by the school.

The main aim of this festival is to promote tolerance and make students appreciate the fact that cultural diversity is to be recognised, respected and celebrated. A number of embassies were directly involved in making the food festival a truly international event. The participation of foreign embassies in Islamabad helped introduce students and their families to the cuisine and cultures of various countries in a festive atmosphere.

The festival drew a large number of people of all age groups from different cultures and nationalities. Thousands of visitors enjoyed a feast of sights, sounds and smells, sampling and buying eatables whilst enjoying cultural displays, music and the company of friends and family.

According to the release, scrumptious food from all five continents was featured, including countries like Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, China, Mexico, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Spain, Canada, the US and around Pakistan.

The festival had 27 booths spotlighting various cultures, with each represented by students, teachers and parents who handled everything from food selection to preparation, stall decoration and management.
