Groundbreaking ceremony: Two projects worth Rs800m to ease traffic flow in Pindi

Punjab chief minister lays the foundation stone for the Rs540 million Chur Chowk Expansion Project.

Two development projects worth over Rs800 million were initiated by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Saturday to ease traffic flow on the busy Peshawar Road.


The chief minister laid the foundation stone for the Rs540 million Chur Chowk Expansion Project and also held the groundbreaking of an underpass at Golra Mor, on Peshawar Road, which is expected to be completed at a cost of Rs300 million.

The Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz government has spent Rs2 billion on the expansion of the city’s roads and the two new projects are being initiated to further ease traffic flow in the cantonment areas, the chief minister said during a ceremony held at Government Degree College for Women on Peshawar Road.

Speaking of the development currently underway, he said that the flyover being constructed at Chandni Chowk will open for traffic in a few days.

Sharif said that his government has provided educational scholarships worth millions of rupees to the deserving students through Punjab Education Endowment Fund in the province.

He added that the process of distribution of 100,000 laptops among the “talented students” was another initiative taken by his government for the promotion education.

Criticising the federal government for corruption, the CM Punjab said the people would get Nawaz Sharif elected as PM and he would bring the looted money back to the country.

He offered his resignation if any sort of corruption of was proved against him and the Punjab government.
