RMUN 2012: Intense debates, thrilling concert mark final day

The intense discussions on challenges of the 21st century at the 4th Roots Model United Nations (RMUN) came to an end with a thrilling concert on Saturday.

According to a press release issued by Roots School System (RSS) on Saturday, the delegates spent two days engaged in confrontational debates, with each session being more competitive and productive than the previous one, leading to a radical and thought provoking finale.

Every delegate was given an opportunity to discuss the designated topics and present a resolution draft to the chairs of committees.

The committees unanimously passed a resolution, urging nations to work collectively to attain global peace and development.

They called for bringing an end to terrorism and removing trade barriers to stablisise the economy.

Students also showcased a colourful global village, displaying various cultures through traditional attire, special cuisines and unique souvenirs.

This year’s RMUN introduced certain new committees, such as ‘Awaz Uthao Mulk Bachao’ to bring diversity in debating and to address regional and global discrete issues.

The committee sessions were followed by an exhilarating musical performance by Bilal Khan and Quratulain Baloch to reward the delegates and organisers for their hard work.

Khan, a Roots alum, had the audience spellbound with his rendition of ‘Meray angnay mein tumhara kya kaam hay’, ‘Tow kia hua’ and a duet with QB over ‘Bachana’.

The delegates seemed to be captivated by Khan’s amazing performance, while QB had her fans cheering with Adele’s ‘Rolling in the deep’, ‘Fix you’ and ‘Zombie’. Her latest track, ‘Woh humsafar tha’, was enjoyed the most by the delegates.
