Saudi security services "foiled an attempt to smuggle half a tonne (1,102 pounds) of hashish through the kingdom's eastern coasts," the ministry said in a statement carried by state news agency SPA.
"The narcotic was seized and 11 people involved in its smuggling were arrested - six Pakistanis and five Iranians."
"Preliminary investigations have shown that those arrested are part of a criminal network involved in drug trafficking from Iranian territories into the kingdom and Gulf Cooperation Council states," it added.
The group was arrested while they were "handing over the drugs" in Saudi Arabia's territorial waters, it said.
The kingdom imposes the death penalty on people convicted of drug trafficking.
Earlier on Friday, a Saudi national was reportedly beheaded after being convicted of smuggling over one million "banned narcotic pills" into the country.

I know what you mean, but it seems these days the bad news and image being given to Pakistan by its citizens is out weighing the good news. Even the famous and celebrated Sharmeen Obaid who has won the Oscar has a documentary based on violence against women in Pakistan.
I want to live in a Pakistan where we are not always seen as bad folks by the world.
This is surprisingly and strangely impossible to forget that in Saudi Arabia drugs' smuggling's punishment is one and only and confirmed "beheading" then why especially the muslims try to smuggle the drugs in Saudi Arabia and defame their countries because when you travel in any world's country you are the ambassador and you have to promote your country's positive image instead of negative image in that country where you travel and before the world by following and obeying that country's laws.

Pakistan is a nation of 180 million people, so yes, you will find them doing terrible things and you will also find them doing excellent and beautiful things. And that is the case, with most people of the world. There are good ones and bad ones. Trying to paint everyone with one brush is silly. The Pakistan I lived in was one of the most peaceful and tranquil places in the world. If it had not gotten involved in the Cold War between Russia and America, it would have spared itself from the extremists.
Also, notice how there is no identification of who the drugs were passed to by the "Iranians and Pakistanis" in Saudi "territorial waters." Saudis should have identified them too. There is more to this story than meets the eye.

Demand for drugs seem to be great in Saudi Arabia, the prices must be great which is why so many are taking a big risk trying to smuggle them in.
