Addressing a press conference, Khan formally announced the joining of former PPP senior leader Dr Israr Shah. However the PTI chief clarified that his party would have pursued Benazir Bhutto’s case even if Shah had not joined them.
The new PTI entrant, sharing his reason for joining the PTI, said, “My sole purpose to join the PTI is to nab the killers of late Benazir Bhutto. Now, nobody can stop me from exposing those who were trying to cover up the murder. I am free to speak now and any attempt to stop me will be a disaster.”
Despite his brave claims, he desisted from divulging any new information at the press conference. Instead he now through the PTI, he would complete Benazir Bhutto’s unfinished agenda.
During the conference, Khan reiterated that the PTI will expose those who were involved in the murder of the former prime minister, when PTI will come into power.
“We had said this some three years back that it would be the PTI which would arrest her killers. The United Nation investigators’ special inquiry report on this case stated officials concerned did not cooperate fully to unearth the accused,” he pointed out.
Using this to build his case against the PPP, Khan said “It means there is something wrong with PPP leaders who are not serious about bringing the culprits to book.” The PTI will carry out protest demonstrations in all provinces, he added.
The PTI chief praised Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, by calling him a nationalist who had done a wonderful job by summoning an all Muslims countries conference during his tenure.
Talking about the various crises facing the nation, Khan said that the masses were unnecessarily being burdened and that the government needs to check prices instead of adding to the woes miseries of poor people.
“Masses became have poorer and poorer while rulers’ pockets are inflated with embezzled money,” he alleged.
The attack on Shia bus passengers in Kohistan a few days back was also condemned. “It is the government’s responsibility to ensure law and order,” he complained.
Apprehension about appointment of judges
He said that the appointment of judges through parliamentarians under the 18th amendment was a way to hide corruption. Khan said that anybody can join the PTI. “We don’t need anyone’s permission to allow people to join us,” he added.
Referring to the by-elections being conducted on old electoral lists, Khan said they would move the Supreme Court on the issue.

@Salman Zafar: The attitude of the Pakistanis is as if they prefer to be ruled by the Americans than a fellow Pakistani.
Life for Pakistan and Vote for Imran Khan....last and only hope left for Pakistan
@Blithe: Have u read IK's book? he writes clearly about ZAB including what brought him down.
...so you have nothing for the rest of Pakistanis who are aching for a revolution of the honest, for the honest???
As he pops a wheely on a tractor. ...Sorry, the man is getting hard to take seriously.
I would request Imran khan to limit his pledges. It is not necessary for him to issue astatement on every issue as they are numerous. Even great Lady thacher contested one of her election on a five point agenda. Recommended agenda for the Khan may be somewhat, Eradication of corruption, Strenghening of institutions, Contolling the inflation, Lesser governing by good governace, Strenghening the local government system, National integration wherein he himself can move to anypart of the country without any fear and of course Restoring the sovereighnty of Pakistan which, whatever we may say, is compromised at present. Bon voyage Mr. KHAN
Shedding tears for BB is another proof that Imran's all hopes are dampened after 20th amendement and Senate elections.
Where is the outrage and dharna for the 18 Shia killed? Just blaming the govt is noting new and not going to show the minorities that PTI is serious about their rights.
Except playing cricket IK has no work or political history. Now he is adopting the PPP heritage. Nice try, but when the electorate has the real thing they are not going to go for number two. Try to come up with your own heros and your own traditions. You cannot own the tombs of ZAB or BB. The people of Pakistan remember the sacrifices and that is why they vote the way they do. It may be right or wrong but it is their choice.
Another pain in the neck for PPP.
Imran is the last of Pakistan. Nawaz, Zardari and Establishment have brought us to the brink of destruction.
Imran Khan Zindabad
I lost all respect for IK the moment he made ZAB his role model.
Pakistan would still be united if it were not for that Megalomaniac. Idar hum, Idar tum politician that alienated Begalis and Baluchies. And someone that decimated our economy by nationalization.
Yes. Justice for everyone... even for political rivals...
40 plus years with the PPP and he leaves to join PTI. More evidence that PTI is the only hope for the country.
"My sole purpose to join the PTI is to nab the killers of late Benazir Bhutto"
What will he do after the killers are nabbed.
PTI is becoming old wine in new bottle, and is loosing focus.
