The bench, comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Nisar Muhammad Shaikh, earlier heard Qasim Mir Jat, counsel for the petitioner, who while placing two certificates from Saudi Arabian authorities, maintained that respondent/candidate Sehar Kamran was a government employee and posted as principal of Pakistan International School at Jeddah and hence ineligible to contest elections to the upper house of the parliament.
“Show us the document or proof that it is a government school and that she is a government servant,” Justice Maqbool Baqar asked.
“Let the respondent come and defend herself. Let her explain her position,” contended Qasim Mir Jatt praying to the court to entertain application for staying the Senate elections.
It is for the petitioner to prove that she is a government employee, the court held and then dismissed the applications for urgent hearing and for staying the elections.
The bench, however, ordered issuance of notices to the respondents including Sehar Kamran Mudassir for a date to be fixed later.
