Iqbal Qasim was appointed the new chief selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday after former chief selector Mohammad Illyas resigned from the post.

The appointment was announced by PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf in a briefing to the media.

The committee team will comprise Saleem Jaffar, Azhar Khan, Asif Baloch and Farrukh Zaman.

Accompanied by Illyas at the press conference, Ashraf commended his performance as the chief selector and termed it a “wonderful contribution” to the cricket board.

“He [Illyas] has worked with great dedication and honesty,” remarked Ashraf.

Illyas also thanked the board for giving him a chance to prove himself and said that a time comes when new people have to replace the old ones. “I have enjoyed working here.”

PCM board is a musical chair game, there are certain players, e.g., Iqbal Qasim, Waseem Bari, Zaheer Abbas, Aqib Javed, Ijaz Malik etc, who keeps circling around chairs with important portfolios and depending upon top guy on a certain day get their spot. in such circumstances and with such tried and tested losers, it can't be expected of PCB to deliver any long term results
