ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration will launch a polio drive on March 12.

An anti-polio drive meeting, chaired by Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Amir Ali Ahmad, was held here on Wednesday.

DC Ahmed said that a social mobilisation drive has been launched in urban and rural areas. Approximately 322 mobile teams for rural areas and 500 mobile teams for the urban area have been readied for door-to-door vaccination procedures, he added.

According to a WHO report, the city’s administration achieved 97% coverage in rural areas while the Capital Development Authority (CDA) achieved 93% coverage in urban areas in its previous anti-polio drive. DC Ahmed said they had arranged “comprehensive logistic support and vehicles for mobile teams”.

Representatives of World Health Organisation, Capital Administration and Development Division and CDA attended the meeting.
