The Lahore High Court on Wednesday asked the Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) to respond by March 15 to a petition challenging the appointment of the chief executive officers (CEOs) of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO).
Justice Umar Ata Bandial passed the order on a petition filed by Ghazanfar Ali Khan and five others challenging the recruitment of new CEOs from outside. At the last hearing, Justice Bandial had barred the federal government from filling the posts till further orders, but allowed the government to continue with the selection process.
The petitioner’s counsel has submitted that the government should promote engineers working in power companies to the CEO offices.
