Wanted Al-Jihad operative arrested at Cairo airport

Airport official says he arrived on an Emirates Airline flight from Pakistan with a stop-over in Dubai.

CAIRO:
Egyptian security officials said the man they arrested at Cairo airport on Tuesday believing him to be a senior Al-Qaeda leader is an Egyptian extremist wanted in his homeland not an Al-Qaeda operative.

"He is wanted for involvement with the Al-Jihad (group). He is not Seif al-Adel," said a source at the National Security apparatus. Officials and state media earlier said the man was the senior Qaeda militant Seif al-Adel. The officials did not say why the Egyptian militant flew to Cairo airport.

An airport official said he arrived on an Emirates Airline flight from Pakistan with a stop-over in Dubai.

Security officials said the extremist was arrested after presenting a travel document at customs and taken into custody by the National Security apparatus.
