"He is wanted for involvement with the Al-Jihad (group). He is not Seif al-Adel," said a source at the National Security apparatus. Officials and state media earlier said the man was the senior Qaeda militant Seif al-Adel. The officials did not say why the Egyptian militant flew to Cairo airport.
An airport official said he arrived on an Emirates Airline flight from Pakistan with a stop-over in Dubai.
Security officials said the extremist was arrested after presenting a travel document at customs and taken into custody by the National Security apparatus.

Wow look how deep this story has been buried ! No more comments, no more uncomfortable questions !
He is not the Al-Qaeda terrorist they initially thought he was...he was only wanted locally in Egyptsee below from Dawn...ET should fix its content as well... http://www.dawn.com/2012/02/29/senior-qaeda-militant-arrested-at-cairo-airport.html
shouldnt it be arrested "at" cairo airport? at least Dawn used at ;p
Pretty strange, A man in most wanted category of FBI, travels like a tourist. He gone through all the way from local airport security check to Duabi ariport and even reached to the final destination without any hurdle. How that possible ... looks like a Tom Cruise style movement.
Even dubai authorities didnt arrested him. Very fishy
When I first heard the news I said to myself, "Thank God Pakistan is not involved this time"...
@Much Amused: He was not caught because he lived in Pakistan. Once he left Pakistan, he was caught.
@all: What was charges on him? will be he brought to any courts / judiciary? Do he has a membership card of al-qaeda? was 911 not a planned drama? if 911 was not a planned drama and no one know about that in USA including CIA, pentagon before it happened, why are you expecting from Pakistani security personals for knowledge about his trip.
Question is why he traveled on his original documents if he was most wanted?
@ Ali Mir and Iron hand: Why was not he arrested on Dubai airport when he made a stop over there???
@Talha: In case you missed reading this, i am quoting it for you again - "An airport official said he arrived on an Emirates Airline flight from Pakistan with a stop-over in Dubai."
@Iron hand: he may have entered flight from uae?
@Talha: had he boarded plane from pakistan or uae?
if pakistan then this shows that he was in pakistan so pakistan is responsible for hidding him if uae then this shows he was not in pakistan but it is still fault of pakistan that he boarded a plane that was travelling from pakistan to egypt ...........thats the logic of ..war OF terror..
@Talha he got on the plane from PAKISTAN! seems like the airport security is there only to harass the common folk.
@Talha
bad news ... he was flying from Pakistan :S so we will be blamed again!!!
@Talha: He was on a flight FROM Pakistan. I wonder why he wasn't arrested when he presented his identification in Pakistan before boarding that flight? Actually, I don't wonder.
They are CIA trained operatives who tried show independently. Now being eliminated to cover sensative info....
If the story is true a fair question is: what were the Immigration staff at Karachi airport doing?.
things like these further tarnish the name of the country.
Why didnt the Pakistanis arrest him? Or were they caught sleeping again? Or was it collusion by the corrupt? How was he living in Pakistan without trace???
So another one was walking around Pakistan with such complacency that he'd even stroll through the airport and board a flight from there. That takes guts when people are looking for you. Unless they weren't actually... Oh I'll stop right there.
Mubarrak ho, someone finally caught outside Pakistan.
We should organise a day of joyous celebrations over this good news.
They are falling like flies now. With Sheikh gone, AQ is history.
