LAHORE: Returning from the UAE after a mixed series against England, Pakistan national team captain, Misbahul Haq admitted that they needed to improve, especially in the batting department.

Haq’s side saw Pakistan pull of a whitewash in the three Test match series over their top ranked opponents. However, the tables were turned in the one-day series with England securing their whitewash over Pakistan in the four match series. The three match Twenty20 series also went to England.

“England has one of the best bowling. How easily they defeated Australia in Ashes shows how strong they are,” Haq said, surrounded by reporters at the Lahore airport.

“We struggled against them,” was his short assessment. Elaborating, he said that “we need to remove our weaknesses, we need to improve our batting.”

Answering critics over calls of change in the team, Haq urged for patience. “We need to stay a little consistent in team selection. This team had been winning everything for the past 18 months. And after losing one series they are talking about changes.”

“If we make changes after a loss, every series we will have a new team,” he retorted.

Talking about his relationship with the manager and the chairman, Haq said “the management, chairman bucked us up at every corner.”
