Two of the petitions were filed by SHC Bar Association and Sukkur Bar Association while one was filed by a social worker.
Later two judges, Irfan Sadaat Khan and Ghulam Sarwar Korai, became interveners in the case by filing an application through their counsel Barrister Makhdoom Ali Khan.
Today the bench comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar, Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah heard Barrister Makhdoom Ali Khan, counsel for the two judges, Anwar Mansoor Khan and Barrister Farogh Nasim, counsel for SHC Bar Association and Sukkur Bar Association respectively.
The counsels submitted that perusal of the record of proceedings of the Parliamentary Committee presented before the court by the federal government was devoid of any material fact supporting the rejection, has no reason for rejecting the recommendation made by the Judicial Commission in respect of these two judges.
Barrister Farogh Nasim submitted that in the absence of any material and solid reason, Court has powers to quash the material and can make a decision thereupon.
The court later put off further proceedings till March 5 when Deputy Attorney General will argue the case on behalf of respondent federal government and parliamentary committee.
