In a late-night development, the Balochistan home department confirmed that it has received from the federal government orders to withdraw all political cases against Baloch nationalist leaders Nawabzada Brahamdagh Bugti and Nawabzada Hrybyair Marri.

According to sources, the provincial home department has issued necessary directives to the police chief and commissioner to quash all political cases against Brahamdagh Bugti, who is also chief of the Balochistan Republican Party, and Hrybyair Marri, who is accused of leading the Balochistan Liberation Army.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik had announced earlier that the government would withdraw all cases against the Baloch nationalist leaders in the spirit of reconciliation so they could return to Pakistan. President Asif Ali Zardari has also tasked to Balochistan Governor Nawaz Zulfiqar Magsi to win over the disgruntled Baloch leaders.
