Sit-In: Students protest against fee hike

HARIPUR: The students of Government Postgraduate College Haripur, on Saturday, staged a protest against the recent hike in examination fees. They blocked GT Road, suspending the flow of traffic for about an hour. They chanted slogans against the college administration  and the provincial minister for higher education who is from Haripur. Protest leaders said the Hazara varsity administration has doubled the admission and examination fees, depriving students of poor families of their fundamental right to higher education. They demanded the administration rescind the decision. The protesters dispersed peacefully on assurances by the local police who promised to take up the issue with the college administration and Hazara University.
