New Department: Funds approved for special education

The chief minister accepted the summary, sent by the adviser on special education, Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, on Friday.

KARACHI: The department of special education will fund for the first time since it was set up in April 2006. The chief minister accepted the summary, sent by the adviser on special education, Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, on Friday. It asked him to release funds and establish a directorate of special education at regional level. Shah also ordered to release the budget for four months. A central secretariat will be established in Karachi with a secretary, an additional secretary, two deputy secretaries and six other officials. Three regional directorates will be set up in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur and a regional director, deputy director and an assistant director will be appointed to oversee the matters. The department used to be a part of the education and literacy department but was separated by the Sindh government.
