Murder: Man guns down fiancée

The complainant said Umaira had refused to marry Adil, as according to her, he had a “bad character”.

HARIPUR: A woman was allegedly killed by her fiancée on Thursday for refusing to marry him. Siddique, a resident of Kaligah village in Mansehra, lodged a complaint with the police, stating that his 17-year-old niece, Umaira had come to spend a few days with his family. On Thursday, Muhammad Adil, with whom she was engaged, tried to abduct her. When she put up resistance, he took out a pistol and shot her three times in the head, killing her on the spot. The complainant said Umaira had refused to marry Adil, as according to her, he had a “bad character”. The police have registered a case and started investigations.
