ISLAMABAD:

The Curriculum Development and Textbook Production Unit (CDTPU) will continue functioning under the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) till the existing Federal Curriculum Act is repealed. This was stated by CADD Spokesperson Rafique Tahir on Friday.

He said that the provinces were supposed to develop their own curriculum act after the education ministry devolved under the 18th Amendment. “CADD has not received any direction to hand over the curriculum wing building in Sector H-9/3 to Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICT),” he said.

All four provinces, G-B, ICT, AJK and FATA have to come up with their own curriculum to replace the existing one.

The CDTPU is an asset for the whole country in term of curriculum development, Tahir said. The wing started revision of curriculum in 2006 and has developed 44 curriculums for the provinces so far in cooperation with the German organization, GIZ. He said CADD, in coordination with provinces, has developed 17 curriculums and recently forwarded them to the provinces after publication. Ten more curriculums will be developed in the coming four months as the provinces have not produced any curriculum so far, he said.

Tahir said specialists working in the unit were disturbed when ICT officials tried to occupy the building few days back, claiming to have directions from high ups. He said that a building allotment committee comprising the Cabinet, Housing, CADD and Establishment secretaries has to decide possession matters and “CADD was neither taken on board regarding the allotment, nor received any notification”.
