Leading the locals, businessman Sharjeel Mir said that the centre’s administration had assured them a few weeks ago that their demands would be fulfilled however nothing was done.
A representative of the Ahmadi centre told The Express Tribune that those gathered outside the worship place had forcefully removed the security cameras, while police present in the area failed to take any action against the attackers.
As reported earlier a ‘banned’ Jihadi organisation along with local traders had held a rally near the worship place against the “unconstitutional” activities of the marginalised community.
The Express Tribune had spoken to a number of Ahmadis, who had emphasised that the community had committed no unlawful activities and had pleaded that the hate campaign be stopped so they could feel safe in the area.

This all adds up to increase in relgious affairs lead to increase in intolerance and discomfort for all human beings
For the love of God, let the ahmedis live.
dear et ! the ahmedi worship centre is called A MOSQUE. call it that.
@Pakistan politics: There is nothing wrong with Islam; it is peace. It is mullah who is the culprit!
@Truth Exposed: Falsehood is being spread in the name of truth! Truth is that Islam is peace and a Muslim is one who says he is a muslim and behaves like a muslim. No certficate is needed and mullahs of today are the worst creatures on earth as predicted by the Holy Prphet of Islam. True Islam shall prevail, insha Allah, and God shall punish these mullahs.
@Ashish: Yes you are right. The same logic is being used to suppress minorities in pakistan. people from balochistan and sindh are not given equal rights as compared to panjab. And 2nd thing sunni muslims believes that they are the "true muslim" and others (shia, ahmedi) are non-muslims.
This is the crux of the problem. Hope you understand now.
@straight Fire ahmadis are the true followers of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh). Pl compare teaching of mullahs with that which was given BY Our beloved Holy Prophet(pbuh)
1) Hazoor was Rehmatulil alameen(for all universe not for only Muslims) But these Mullahs are full of anger and rudeness. 2) He allowed everyone to worship as anyone wish and the mullahs are Stopping ahmadis to do so. PL think about it with open mind.
Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) teaching is that one who read LA ILAHA IL ALLAH MUHAMMAD UR RASOOL ULLAH is Muslim.Then who r the Mullahs who seperate ahmadis from Muslims.
Thanks to Express Tribune for publishing this story. Punjab Government has not done anything to safeguard rights of minorities in last four years, Punjab is worst in terms of protection to minorities. I don’t expect Sharif to do anything to save minorities. Rawalpindi administration has added another incident in history, where administration has bowed to unlawful demands of extremists, as per our history it will lead to further unlawful demands from extremists. I pray to God for safety of all Ahmadis and Pakistanis from these extremists, as asking Government or Police to help is useless in this case.
@Raj - USA: You don't need to worry about what is my definition of 'Mullah' ... You should care about what is my definition of 'Secular'
@ahad:
It’s the people who bring a government in power in democracy.
Careless administration.
Only way forward for Pakistan is Difa e Pakistan and Pak Army rule the country forever. President Hamid Gul and Prime minister Zaid Hamid and after them their families should run the country no one else is capable.
Blame the government not the people since it is the local government who is involved in the local administration not the people.
Please don't miss use islam for you ill acts. Islam doesnt prevents someonce from practicing his faith whatever it is.
These extremest mullas should work on thierself and the need to involve themselve in islamic activities so that we can be able to improve the image of islam in current scenario.
yes it is the Ahmadis who do unlawful activities in their places of worship. The muslims on the other hand are peaceful souls and only read the Quran in their masajid.
Solution to this Ahmadi/Qadiani is very simple. If all the Ahmadiyya/Qadiani followers insist on being called muslims, they should accept the Prophet(PBUH) as the last of prophets. They can give status to the founder of Ahmadi/Qadiani as a saint or a peer and still have a high regard for them. Or just be proud of being followers of Ahmadiyya/Qadiani religion. As a few of the commentators have already pointed out, Ahmadiyya/Qadiani are one of the most well to do community in pakistan, so there is not as much a discrimination as they (Ahmadiyya/Qadiani) would like others(specially indians who come here and criticize) to believe.
When 90 plus innocent people are brutally murdered in their place of worship and the authorities do NOTHING, Ahmadiyya community alone had to protect themselves. These Bearded Termites and their sympathizers are bent on the destruction of Pakistan. By creating issues & hatred against the Ahmadiyya community, these forces of Evil are shifting the focus off the real and serious issues facing Pakistan today. Hopefully, brave people with real conscience can spot these hate mongers and eradicate them before it is too late.
No camera no prosecution
@Straight Fire: You say: "And now you will start your pathetic debate about the Definition of Mullah that its not just appearance, its a state of mind."
What is your definition of a Mullah? Is he the one who has full, untrimmed beard in his face, bomb in his pocket and boys on the side?
Or, is he the one who is pious, never threatens anyone, never hurts anyone, follows the true spirit of the religion, very mindful of what he preaches and takes extra care to preach peace and harmony to his followers so that the true message of the religion spreads around for the good of the humankind.
We have seen so many times Mullas deliver hateful speeches immediately after the Friday Prayer session in the Mosques. Do you think that these Mullas were praying during the prayer time with full devotion or were they pretending to be praying but actually rehearsing in their mind the hateful message they intend to deliver immediately after the prayers?
I am delighted to read so many encouraging and rational comments on issues facing Islam especially in Pakistan. Mullahs have no sense of history that how many unjust people have passed before them. They are not going to live for ever. But certainly they shall face their Maker for accounting and then regret what they used to do. But too late.I pray and there is hope that the new generation in Pakistan shall be wiser and treat their fellow citizens with justice!
Beghairat Brigade is on fire ... lol
@Umer: I'm hearing this noise getting stronger and stronger day by day ... Is Zia still alive ? And, its a pity that all you irreligious fanatics (a.k.a Beghairat Brigade) couldn't defeat Zia alone. I hope you will remain dutiful to those who you worship (West)
@Umer: Re-read my comment again ... Taliban think the same way as you think, they think an Adultery/Fornication brigade has been placed everywhere in the name of Freedom ... Taliban think they are just wiping them out .. lolz
@ Straight Fire
Get your facts correct:
Gen. Zia did for the Mullahs in terms of influence and power what they never could have imagined in their wildest dreams......
President Rafiq Tarar was a mullah as well, if I'm not mistaken......
Perhaps it's time for the Ahmadi to come to the realization that the Pakistan govt and Pakistani police won't lift a finger to help them -- they need to hire their own security and make sure that they have proper barricades and security camera's. The people who are picking on the Ahmadi are bullies and like all bullies they tend to prey on the defenseless - be strong and if necessary defend yourselves.
@ pakistani politics
Why remove barriers huh ?? you kill those innocent people..dont they have a right to defend themselves... Kyun innocent logon ka khoon apnai haathon mai laina chahtay ho..If the people around have no problem then why is Sharjeel Memon facing such an intolerable itch?
@bigsaf: Fundamentalist ! who ? r u talking about Ahmadis ?
who changed the fundamentals of an already complete Religion i.e. Islam
@Kamran:
Right, so what is the problem in calling it a mosque?
@Straight Fire:
Zia-ul-Haq for one who placed Mullahs all over for which the country is paying through its nose since then.
What possible rationale can you have for removing security measures at a place of worship during such tense times in our country? Peshawar saw 3 bomb blasts in the last 24 hours at police stations - surely if even the security forces are not safe we should do everything to protect ordinary citizens? Why would the locals of rawalpindi want these security deterrents removed? This is preposterous and clearly a product of hate-mongering and bias towards this peaceful minority.
Guys, we all have the equal right to live here, use this space to spread peace and to enable common man to change his mindset towards ahmadi / any minority. We need tolerance in our society
@Acorn Guts: Tell me how many 'Mullahs' have been placed as President, Prime Minister or Army Chief in this country to date ?
And now you will start your pathetic debate about the Definition of Mullah that its not just appearance, its a state of mind.
Let me tell you that this kind of thinking is similar to how Taliban think. They don't call every next person as 'Muslim' no matter how muslim he looks
@anonymous: Religion first and second ... this will cover everything
@Iqbal: Mosques is a place where the followers of Mohammad P.B.U.H offer prayers ...
@SG: Wake up dude. Humanity first.
I believe most educated people (excluding LBA) understand that Ahmadis are peaceful and beneficial for the country. Only those who are biased will disagree with the services of this Jamat-e-Ahmadiyya for the nation.
@Truth Exposed: If we were so affluent we would have bought our religious freedom from Mullah back in 70's and what govt. services? Two of my own uncles were denied promotions beyond Wing Commander level by PAF for several years and were laid off eventually. You can spin the yarn against Ahmadis to non-Ahmadis but don't try to tell me who I am! Tell you what, we'll exchange all our wealth for a chance to read the Kalima and say our Salat without fear of wrath of Mullahs, deal? Any level of affluence cannot substitute religious freedom!
@Truth Exposed: And why wasn't point of view of Asia Bibi taken? It was her human right as well! My friend, in Pakistan, we burned away the chapter of human rights long ago. Besides, have'nt the Mullahs already come forth with thier 'point-of-view' enough already? Please spare us from more splashing about of their point of views...
Ahmadi "Worship Centre"? You won't even call it a Mosque?
@Acorn Guts: which violence you are getting in Pakistan? Qadiyanis are better financially than any other minority in Pakistan after Ismaili. They own big businesses and have high literacy rate. You get key positions in govt and civil services. what else you need???
@Truth Exposed: That's the easy way isn't it? Declare ourselves non-muslims and take the easy way out? Ever thought why we sacrifice our fathers, sons, daughters and mothers without returning the favours? ever thought why we suffer at your hands quietly? ever thought why despite taking all the violence we never hit back? because THAT .. is what Islam tells us .. and THAT is why we are muslims!
@IndiKid: Mullahs have, over the years, made a diabolical business out of religion. This not only brings them authority and monetary gains but also allows them to run their politico-economic agendas behind the fascia of religion. Ahmadis stand against all the distorted, adulterated and extreme interpretations of Islam that are dished out by Mullah and in turn, Mullahs consider Ahmadis to be a threat to their worth.
Also, historically, Ahmadis have always been used by politicians to distract people's attention from trouble at hand .. this unfortunately, has given rise to public hatred against Ahamdis.
@Straight Fire: ET is totally biased and there are so many lies in this story. And why not point of view of these "mullahs" was taken? It is their basic human right
When Qadiyani are Muslim then they should accept this treatment from their "brothers" and solve it like brothers. But If they are not then they should STOP naming their places of worship as mosques and fooling world in the name of Islam. Only then they can be given minority rights.
ET!!!! The purpose full reporting must continue, Today you are the only media out let out of big names who have shown the picture to all. well, every body has different view and every body is entitled to it. No voice should be quashed, the saner and logical voice will win. Sorry to say that country has gone wild wild west, now the worship place of this minority is being forced to go undefended and later on just like Lahore may be attacked. we must realize what we are doing, are we abetting a heinous crime??????
@SG...Ahamdis say that they are muslims...and stop talking about all the world for a sec and tell me that has any mosque in Pakistan being asked to take off their security cameras??? has it happened that a gunman is shooting helpless people standing on a tall minaret with police looking on from outside not firing at him??? If you say they are non muslims then fine just leave them alone until you have definite prove that they are involved in something illegal! but noooooo....we have to persecute all the minorities including them!
@IndiKid: How else can they maintain a monopoly on Faith™ if not by exclusivity?
@Straight Fire: If ET were biased your comment wouldn't be published in the first place. And you blame ET for publishing such news instead of condemning these jihadis? you should be ashamed of yourself
They actually need to realize and admit that they are minoritiy....they proclaim to be muslims and if they are then shld face all the injustice that they muslims are facing across the world...when it comes to their lives, they suddenly turn into minority and start demanding justice...insane.....
ET is an obvious party and totally biased towards publishing comments .... Sad that you represent a very small portion of population and yet making $$$ from it.
Does anyone knows what happened to the terrorist who was captured by Ahmedi's in lahore when he attached their place of worship on May 28, 2010?
The worst part is once the barricades and cameras are removed then the terrorists will find it easier to attack the mosque as they did a couple of years ago in Lahore killing around a hundred people.
Pakistan mosque attacks in Lahore kill scores
These barricades are placed during Friday prayers to avoid just such incident. Extremists have already threatened to attack the place, so this seems like the preparation for that.
Whats wrong with Ahmadis having CCTV cams? In India also the Mullahs of the MUSLIM PERSONAL LAW BOARD (anti-feminist homophobic law board) some time ago stopped a Quran exhibition by Ahmadis and they dont allow Ahmadis membership of the law board although the Indian constitution treats Ahmadis as muslims. My main question is "Why Mullahs are so afraid of Ahmadis?"
We are getting more sick and sick every day as a nation and as muslims. this has led to our destruction all around the world and we so rightly deserve it. U kill / descriminate minorities in Pakistan they kill / marginalise you around the world. then do not complain
The truth is that the average Pakistani is intolerant of those who have a different point of view about faith. Such behaviour is a part of the muslim culture worldwide.
@Acorn Guts:
The authorities would have done nothing, the video evidence would at least refute those that claim that everyone is treated well in the Islamic Republic and any claims to the contrary are Indian/American/Israeli/Secular Fascist propaganda.
What good would the CCTV have been anyway? Even if we had captured our brothers making a mockery of human rights and Islamic teachings on film, the authorities would have done absolutely nought!
@Pakistan politics: Suleman has merely pointed out the root of the problem here. Any atrocity that is committed against Ahmadis is genuinely considered to be in accordance with Islamic principles by the perpetrators and those who commit the crimes consider themselves to be serving nothing but a cause for Islam.
You have rightly said that none of this is an attribute of real teachings of Islam and I agree with you completely, but what Suleman has pointed out is genuine problems and real people are suffering at the hands of mullahs 'serving Islam'.
@Pakistan politics:
How do you know what the "700 locals gathered outside the Ahmadi centre in Satellite Town, Rawalpindi on Friday" demanded or not ... were you there? The report clearly says "those gathered outside the worship place had forcefully removed the security cameras" - so what 'propagation' are you talking about?
@Suleman: terrorizing the people by using any means is strongly discouraged and do not associate Islam with any bad thing happens around, u need to study Islam, if someone is not following Islam correctly do u think its fair to blame ISLAM for that??
I only recently came to know of this sect and the issues surrounding them.
If the Ahmedis community is designated non-muslim, then at least give them the rights that islam gives to non-muslim communities. Persecution is against the very basis of muslim law!!
@Pakistan politics: Police removed CCTV cameras today.Get your facts right before you comment
They only demanded removal of barriers(like this month people demanded removal of police barriers) not CCTV camera's don't propagate
So mullah don't want us to capture their video while they serve islam??
