Death of MQM MPA

KARACHI: One can understand that the MQM is upset on the death of its MPA but that this tragedy should result in the closure of an entire city of some 17 million people provides food for some thought. While we need better law and order to stop our legislators from being killed, we also need it to prevent the killings that have happened after that MPA’s death.

On the evening of August 2 while stuck in traffic on the way home, I saw the helplessness of thousands of people who were affected by the violence. All parties including the MQM, PPP and the ANP will use this tragic moment to their advantage. They always do.

Pakistan is a classic case of a frog in slow boiling water.
