Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that the United States should compel India to stop atrocities in Indian administered Kashmir rather than taking up the Balochistan issue.
The JUI-F Chief, who is also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, has given this statement at a time when an Indian parliamentary delegation is visiting Pakistan.
“Why is America silent over the killings of Kashmiris, even though Jammu & Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory,” he asked. “America is discussing Balochistan in its parliamentary hearings, although, it is an integral part of Pakistan,” he said, adding, “It is clearly interference in the internal matters of Pakistan.”
He said the US has incriminated Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai to please India, while he was projecting the Kashmir issue there. India has been killing Kashmiris since 1947, he said adding that the world powers were silent spectators in the meanwhile.
Appreciating a report by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Observer Margrat Sakagaya on Indian administered Kashmir, Fazlur Rahman urged the UN and the international community to pressure India into stopping human rights violations perpetrated by Indian security forces.
He said that the UNHRC Observer has confirmed the atrocities India was inflicting on the hapless Kashmiris. There can not be a more authentic document on this issue, he added, terming it a test case for the UN.

@Ramanujam: Pak also should get back the land given to China
@JS: Ours is the answer!!!!
@Rajendra Kalkhande: And in your lifetime Kashmir will be ours!!!! That is Pakistan if you are wondering
@Bhutto:
You are fool. Have you forgotten 1971, east Pakistan became Bangladesh.
@Vijay:
India could not follow the UN resolution because Pakistan refused to first vacate the forcibly occupied part of J&K as stipulated in the UN resolution.
A simple solution could be for Pakistan to conduct plebiscite in PoK. It would then have much more credibility to go to UN that Pakistan has followed UN resolution but India has not.
Few illegit sons of Arabs first need to vacate Pakistan so that original inhabitants i.e. Indians can get back their land. It is the agenda we pursue, Sir. My land, my people, my culture, and my religion.
I am surprised to see the missing word "held" or "occupied" in the heading of this news story which Pakistani media has been using historically to point to the part of Jammu and Kashmir occupied by India. I don't know the policy of The Express Tribune but most of the segments of Pakistani Press have been using the phrases like "Indian held Kashmir".or "Indian Occupied Kashmir". Although, the phrase "Indian administered Kashmir" have been used once in the news story which is also surprising because still Indian press employed term "PoK" or "Pakistani occupied Kashmir". Pakistani Government have been defensive to Indians since the Bombay Attack in India but now is it the time for Pakistani media to follow official footsteps.
@Chill:
7.5 Lakh is a number passed around the Urdu Media in Pakistan. The whole Indian Army strength is 10 Lakhs, it would be foolish to station 75% of your force in one concentrated area.
Thats just a canard with no basis what so ever.
Who would visit a place with so many soldiers, tell me?
http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2011-10-16/news/302861971lakh-tourists-number-of-tourist-arrivals-kashmir-valley
11 Lakh Tourists visited Kashmir!!! You know what a friend of mine in the Company that I work in also visited it recently. Who in their right mind want to go to a Kashmir that many Pakistanis have built in their own minds, with massive help from your biased media?
Perhaps Mr. Fazlur Rehaman thinks only Pakistan has the devine right to interfere in other country's internal affairs. Now Pakistan is getting taste of its own medicine and how!
Why this kolavari dude?
@Chille,
Your calculations are wrong. Let us agree that there are 7Lac troops in Kashmir.
All 7Lac cannot be deployed on the border
Each security person works 8hrs a day so 2.33Lac solders left for deployment
But, atleast 10% will be on their personal leave so 2.09 left for deployment
But, everybody cannot be deployed on border atleast 1Lac solders required to maintain peace in cities So 1.09 are left for deployment on border
But, atleast 50k solders required to be present in base camps for maintainance purpose.
50.9K solders are available to deploy on borders to stop infiltration. So each solder has to monitor 14.73km border.
Now, tell me how can each solder monitor 14.73km border? This is the reason why terrorists are still infiltrating and killing civilians in Kashmir
@Chill:
Cheers!
Thanks for such sage advice. You know no one is going to oblige you. Why hope that you will find an undefended Kashmir some day for you to walk in?
Let us manage our "gutless" army. You manage your bravest-in-the-world army, if you can.
Best of luck!
@ Bruteforce
If Kashmir is heaven, then why are there 7 lac army men there? For protection from Pakistani militants who cross LOC?
LOC is 750 km long, do you mean to say you have placed 1 soldier on every metre of LOC and still couldnt control infiltration. The fact is infiltration only went down when Pakistan wanted so!
So what your army has been doing there for part 65 years?? Why dont you disband your gutless army, and give security contracts to militants, who seem to be better organized, motivated than your army and these militanst will also have local public's support.
If Kashmir is hell why is it seeing the largest number of Tourists. Last year Kashmir more number of people visiting it than the number of people visited Pakistan!!!!
The lies people tell themselves!
They are to busy trying to dismember Pakistan.
Ok..Enough of this drama... India will give freedom to Kashmir.Indian Army will withdraw from Kashmir and will allow Kashmir to govern themselves...
But few conditions apply 1.Similarly Pakistanis should cede their part of Kashmir 2.Pakistan will withdraw their army from POK 3.Pakistan should sign a treaty that they will not attack Kashmir 4.Till Kashmir army become self-dependent.Either US or NATO army will guard the borders from any attacks from India and Pakistan..History has shown that its pakistan who want to conquer Kashmir more than India
Lastly,if there is an ethnic cleansing based on religion,language and if refugees start coming to Indian border.India will be forced to do what they did in 1971...
Are Pakistanis ready for this treaty
Atrocities in Kashmir are sadly true. Our forces should withdraw and let local people live in peace.
@Ghaznavi: Indian army is there just for vacation.
One hour debate in US congress has acted like a wolf among sheep. Whole Pakistan has gone ballistic. Issue has not found even a paragraph worth of place in American media. No one is debating it on American television. In contrary entire Pakistan is blaming USA, India and Israel. Doesn't all this show how week state the Pakistan has become? Pakistanis world over observe Kashmir day each year. Does anyone really care about that in India? Most Indians don't even know about this. Event hardly finds any mention in India media. There have been endless Kashmir specific resolutions in OIC and elsewhere. I have never seen India going ballistic like Pakistan.Same congressman moved an anti-India resolution on Kashmir 1995. India never bothered. We never summoned American ambassador. All this shows that Pakistan is a very unsecured nation.
Yes Molana u r right, they can speak for Syria but why not for kashmir it is disputed area and Indian military is committing inhumane crimes
Bhutto : I thought pakistan was already broken in 1971 and you were instrumental in that. Anyway it is broke(economically) again,
@Real Baloch: holiday....they are there to enjoy their time in the most beautiful place on this planet.....Pakistani ar,y must be jealous of it......we can understan it....
@Ghaznavi:
Agreed.
Read my comment above.
@Real Baloch:
Indian army is protecting the Indian state of J&K from being captured by Pakistan army, which has made two unsuccessful attempts already. It was tried in 1947 and again in 1965, but Indian army defeated them. India cannot trust Pakistan. So, the army has to stay there. The other duty of Indian army is to stop the infiltration of militants from Pakistan from across the LOC.
J&K Police and BSF are looking after the trouble being created inside the state by militants and terrorists instigated by Pakistan and its paid agents. Army looks after the border.
@John B Pakistan wants what is best for Kashmiris. If they want independence, we will agree, but will you? By the way, what is 7 Lac army doing in Kashmir. If Kahsmiris want to stay with India, then you dont need that many troops there. Couple of hundred of mujahideen cant do much if the public is with you. And if they dont want to be with India, you can never make them against their wish, even if you post an outside army of millions.
Take your army out of Kashmir, Pakistan will do the same. Let the Kashmiris decide their own issues, without looking down the barrel of the Indian guns.
USA loves ,King Amir's and dictators. It will be kingdom of Bugttis. Who will allow USA base to Check mate Iran. I think Pakistan should lease Azad Kashmir to China for next hundred years to check mate India. This is all power politics.
@Bhutto
"India will be broken into pieces before Pakistan ever will."
LOL. You already lost half the population and one third area in 1971. No part of India has broken since Independance. Punjab is economically one of the most developed states in the Indian union, and it is also the biggest contributor of man power in the Indian army. Get out of your bubble, and digest the reality.
"According to a recent tribune survey Pakistanis are Muslims first and Nationalists second"
There lies the biggest difference between India and Pakistan. Most people here put their country India first and their religions second. That is why we have far lesser ethnic identity problems than you, even though we are far more diverse than you will ever be.
@Akhtar: India will survive if the plebiscite goes against them but can Pakistan survive if Balochistan breaks away? I don't think Pakistan will EVER venture into a deal like that. Besides, there is no guarantee that the Kashmiris will join Pakistan. They will want to be independent too. That is not something the establishment supports.
Muslims in kashmir - our responsibility to defend, muslims in Afghanistan - our responsibility to defend, crazy muslim hating Danish newspaper - our responsibility to riot and issue fatwas, crazy muslim hating American priest - our responsibility to riot some more, "Godless" Russians in Afghanistan - our responsibility to defend, muslims in Palestine - our responsibility to support.....whose responsibility are the hungry, sick, abused, uneducated, downtrodden muslims (and others) of this country??????
@Bhutto:
As an Indian I support your wise advice. India should, of course, clean up its own mess.
But, I will expect Pakistan not to wait for India to break up, before starting to seriously look into the Baluchistan problem, and solve it.
The reason is simple. India, even if broken up in a hundred pieces, will do all it can to help Baluchistan if Brahamdagh Bugti asks for help. My advice to Pakistan is NOT to wait for India to break up.
@Bhutto: "India will be broken into pieces before Pakistan ever will. Because, according to a recent tribune survey Pakistanis are Muslims first and Nationalists second. Its not the same in India where they teach sikhs, muslims, hindus that they are “hindustanis” first."
It is factually correct that Indians considers them Indians first and Pak majority considers itself Muslim first. How did you use these facts to reach the conclusion you have i.e. ""India will be broken into pieces before Pakistan ever will." Surely a stronger national identity that Indian possess should increase rather than reduce its likelihood of breaking apart is it not?
Also when you say Pakistanis are Muslim first - are you then saying that the Pakistani Hindus, Christians and Ahmadis are Muslims first?
@Balochi liberal: Brother you have hit the bull's eye
Good morning indian comments machine :)
@Nitish: So what is 7 lac indian army doin in kashmir???
@Hello all,
Truth is truth, Kashmir is a conflict b/w 2 states since 65 years while Baluchistan is an internal matter of a country.
Before India defends Balochi's it needs to fix its own backyard, as far as my history is concerned Maoists have tried to gain Independence from India since the beginning of time. Don't forget the Sikhs who even to this day want their own Khalistan. India will be broken into pieces before Pakistan ever will. Because, according to a recent tribune survey Pakistanis are Muslims first and Nationalists second. Its not the same in India where they teach sikhs, muslims, hindus that they are "hindustanis" first.
Perhaps he should read history written by outsiders on the issues.
It may look nice in PAK papers for his local constituents, but he is not doing any one any favors by being dishonest in his opinions. Everyone outside of PAK knows that PAK has agreed not to interfere in India Kashmir since Kargil, and in return PAK gets the Economic benefit from the world.
It is time PAK starts detoxification of years of brain washing for the good of the country.
@Akhtar:
As an Indian I agree with you fully. Just take care of the following.
Before there can be a plebiscite in Kashmir, the area occupied by Pakistan by force since 1947/48 is to be vacated as per the terms of 1948 UN resolution on Kashmir. Pakistan must also agree to recognizing Kashmir as an independent state if the Kashmiris vote for Azadi.
Tell me if you are willing.
Plebiscite for Balochistan and Kashmir. And the Indian guy above is a usual troll who gets nauseated when the truth is told.
Do you guys ever hear any parliamentarian from India speaking of Balochistan or Syria or Xingjiang or Tibet when there is international negative publicity regarding our role in Kashmir? No - and that is because we do not see that as an excuse; we need to fix our own problems - and so do you. Forget Kashmir, fix Balochistan.
@akthar, Since you are bringing the bigger neighbour for your balochistan issue let me say that why not bring Tibet,Chechenya,Taiwan also to be resolved at the same time or remain status quo.
Ha ha ha.. Good joke. Its true that many best comedian came from Pakistan.
When the world looks at Pakistan, Pakistan tries to hide behind India. Irony!!
Maulana's justification of killings in Balochistan with Kashmir is rather far fetched. People being abducted at regular intervals in Balochistan and their dead bodies later found is certainly not happening in Indian held Kashmir. Kashmir is quiet and calm for the past two years and few killings have taken place at the hands of security forces and even those are properly investigated and guilty punished as well. However, same is not the case in Pakistan, which is well known to the international community
HAHAHA, prrrrrrrrrr from now his rating will increase, no doubt. next PM?
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman should defend Pakistan against US drone strikes. Where was the anti-drone Jihad all these years?
The common factor in Kashmir and Balochistan is that Pakistani elements are killing those people and blaming sardar in Balochistan and Indian army in Kashmir. World sees this, they know this, they can see through Pakistani lies. Balochistan zindaabad!
Ostrich policy wins again!
The entire world know about what kind of credibility you guys have, already you had sowed poisonous seeds in Pakistan in the form Madrassas which has turned Pakistan into epicentre of global terrorism.
hahahaaaa.... talk about day dreaming.
Yes, I agree with Maulana Saab! Both Baloch & Kashmir issues are burning since independence. Both sides, there are atrocities committed. Pakistan should openly declare that if India conducts Plebiscite, we are willing to do the same. Or else, both the countries are willing to do plebiscite on the same day, provided, UN monitors the plebiscite in both countries.
Equality should be there for both the countries. & since both of the are claimed to be illegal occupation, we should do plebiscite in both countries.
