WASHINGTON: US State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland on Tuesday said the US respected the territorial integrity of Pakistan and that Congressman Rohrabacher's resolution on Balochistan did not reflect the US government's views.

In response to a question at the State Department daily press briefing, Nuland said that the US respects Pakistan's territorial integrity and sovereignty. She added that Pakistani Ambassador Sherry Rehman and Islamabad had reached out to the US on resolution.

"The United States respects the territorial integrity of Pakistan.  Members of Congress introduce legislators on many foreign affairs topics. But they do not in any way imply US government endorsement of those positions. And we don't generally comment on pending legislation," State Department Spokesperson Victoria Nuland said at the daily briefing.

Last week, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher introduced a house concurrent resolution asking that Balochistan be given the right of self-determination.

Nuland said that on the subject of Balochistan, they encouraged all parties to work together.
